"The Pocket"

Tabi has music in his blood. Born Tabiabuè Bonney in Lomé Togo, West Africa and son of afro-funk superstar Itadi Bonney, Tabi remembers seeing his father perform on tour in West Africa, Europe and the United States. He says, Music has always been a part of my life.

Tabi Bonney has been making music since he was in high school- and started refining his skills in college, forming a group, Organized Rhyme with fellow MC Haziq Ali and they toured the US opening for major artists like - LL Cool J, Camron and OutKast. That was back then. Forward to 2006 Tabi released his debut CD “A fly guys theme” , the album brings the fresh back to hip-hop with “ The pocket” as the single that became an instant national hit, the video is playing on heavy rotation on MTV Jams, MTV 2, MTV U , MTV Africa, , BET, BET J, , Music Choice, and Suckerfree MTV interview with Paul Wall http://www.myspace.com/tsmc ( Tabi Bonney is the ONLY independent artist that has been on suckerfree on MTV). A fly guy’s theme is stacked with radio friendly tracks plus little treats for the ladies, like “Doin It” featuring Raheem Devaughn or “YOU”. Second single “Syce it” and video will be hitting the airways in November, 2007. Tabi is also working on his upcoming album “ Dope meet fresh…Fresh meet superstar” Release 2008.

Tabi’s music is described as hip hop with a pop appeal , his music is reminiscent of Q-Tip/A Tribe Called Quest and captivating like Kanye West’s outside the box lyrics and infectious beats.

Tabi presses the envelope, setting him apart from the rest. “I just got tired of everybody being a thug and looking exactly alike”, says Tabi.

Tabi's music and style as the fly guy is all authentic, besides his talent he is a very humble human being, promoters and venues continuously work with him cause "he's so easy to deal with" plus he doesn't drink or smoke, nor does he curse or degrade women in his music and still makes hot songs each time, the public is waiting for something new and refreshing and Tabi came along at a perfect time. All the accomplishments Tabi has done is without a label or publicist with that said the sky is the limit for this super talented artist.

2007 has been a packed year with shows both nationally and internationally and it sure doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. Also Tabi will be co-hosting a international hip hop show airing on BET, replacing “ Rap City” due to air late May 2008.

Tabi's talents don't end with music. He has a clothing line called Bonney Runway, they are in stores in Miami, D.C, N.Y. and London. On Top of all this Tabi has started another talent of his includes directing. He developed a production company called Cool Kids Forever Films. The first two videos Tabi directed Syce it and Beat Rock made it to national and international networks such as MTV and VH1. He is now directing videos for other major artists such as the recent video for the Grammy award nominated artist Raheem Devaughn. In the near future Tabi also plans on delving into the movie industry.
